Purifying Human Consciousness
The whole problem of "sin and suffering" lies in the fact that they exist in consciousness.
Any belief held in the mass thought of humanity, if not eradicated, will give rise to the experiences associated with that belief.
The belief in "evil forces", even in the content of stage dramas and literary novels, gives power to unpleasant conditions and provides the essence for these conditions becoming real to us.
Our work should be to eliminate such ideas from our consciousness and aim at filling our minds with the ideas we wish to see realised.
This might appear a mammoth task, but by the same effort that has brought all man's suffering into being, harmony and peace can be restored.
When a being of a higher order comes into our presence, we feel his nature emanating around us. When he departs our troubles return, because the faults are within ourselves. (see Ancient Patriarchs)
